Cars in Germany's Town Found Smeared with Swastikas in Blood, Law Enforcement Report

Officers mentioned they were contacted by a man who found a automobile in Hanau marked with reddish substance

Roughly 50 automobiles have been marked with what seems to be human bodily fluid in the German town of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, as reported by authorities.

Cars, building surfaces and postal boxes were defaced, sometimes with prohibited symbols, they stated in a release.

Police say they were notified during the night on Wednesday, when a resident noticed that a car in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been marked with a reddish fluid.

The liquid had been drawn in the shape of a swastika, they stated.

Police then discovered multiple other smeared cars and residential walls in the adjacent neighborhood.

Swastikas are prohibited in Germany under regulations outlawing the visible presentation of Nazi symbols.

Law enforcement state preliminary tests suggest the fluid was probably blood from a person.

"Currently there is no lead as to where it came from; investigators are not yet informed of any physical harm in relation with the incident," they added.

City officials stated they were trying "to solve the incident" and have appealed to the public for details.

A senior official said the incident made him speechless and needed to be resolved rapidly.

"This act strikes at the center of Hanau and revives the pain of the right-wing violent incident five years ago," he posted on social media, mentioning the killing of nine victims by a gunman aiming at residents of immigrant origin in February 2020.
